The first few of these I could explain away due to lack of people and maintenance over the past few years finally taking a toll, along with the absolute less than bottom dollar price at which these big warehouse buildings are put up. It honestly surprises me that these big buildings manage to stay standing in spite of themselves.
However, it's just too many of them. Something funny is happening.
How many are there in the USA? How many have had issues?
It's a very small percentage, 10s out of thousands, but still It's just odd, you know?
the bigger question is how large each of the food plants are and how long their reach into the supply chain is. 10s of plants can make up 90% of the supply chain so the severity is hard to call since it has a complete media blackout
Is it? It might be, but I also haven't seen any data on how many of these types of fires there have been this year vs some other year.
I 'member when the world food shortages stories began there always was a little sentence about 'don't worry, USA is different and has plenty of supplies' and won't be affected if there are shortages in the world. Someone paid attention to make sure USA is now affected.
