the bigger question is how large each of the food plants are and how long their reach into the supply chain is. 10s of plants can make up 90% of the supply chain so the severity is hard to call since it has a complete media blackout

Is it? It might be, but I also haven't seen any data on how many of these types of fires there have been this year vs some other year.
That's the question, isn't it. Is this an unusual year for fires in this type of business, or is it normal. The fact that food processing tends to be run on a shoestring because owners try to squeeze every little penny out may speak to something.
