The local farmers here are hard working but aren't "rich". Most are using 50 y/o or older equipment. Maine isn't like the midwest. The big corporate guys are planting gmo seed, Monsanto pesticides, aerial spectral evaluation determining what type of fertilizer is needed and where. Maximized production.Automated farm equipment guided by gps... who can compete? I hope someday gmo seed is outlawed. Monsanto alternatives are the norm.
