Contrary to what you see in movies and TV, flight sims are rarely used. And when they are it's usually for advanced training like emergencies, IFR, and combat.
That's interesting.
Reminds me of the whole sky king incident
Horizon Air CEO Gary Beck stated that, as far as the company knew, Russell did not have a pilot's license. Beck said the aerial maneuvers were "incredible" and that he "did not know how [Russell] achieved the experience that he did." During his conversation with air traffic control, Russell said he "[knew] what [he was] doing a little bit" because he had experience playing video games.
Ya, that whole event really stunk. While I have no clue what was going on, I don't believe the official account. Not at all.
You have an obviously talented and intelligent white guy working a menial labor job getting shit pay surrounded by diversity hire foreign pilots. Hell in the recorded dialogue he jokingly asked if they would give him a job being a pilot if he was able to "pull this off". Then after they responded he responded saying "nah I'm a white guy".
This is what young white Americans (men mostly) are feeling across the entire nation. They're being constantly shit on by a society that claims they are somehow "privileged" when in reality they constantly face a handicap.
When the young white men bring this up they are told they're just too lazy or not working hard enough or not applying to enough jobs but in reality they are doing all of those things and not being given the opportunities that the successful people who are shitting on them were given.
A large portion of success in life is luck based. When you constantly give someone a -3 on their dice roll their entire life that shit adds up. When they're intelligent enough to recognize this and how little control they have over their success in life they become suicidal.
