TLDR; He won't tip if he orders standing up (fast casual, fast food, etc). To a degree it makes sense. I typically only tip somewhere like that if its a holiday and they are super busy since working days like that kind of suck.

I agree. I thought this was the norm. Those tip jars have annoyed me since the day they popped up on the counters.
