It all happened really fast, plus there are a lot of them up there. I would not be surprised if some did start making their way down when they saw what was happening, but not enough time for everyone to get down.

I'm slow to the Mexican jokes on this one. Allegedly the Mexican navy is one of the few areas of their government that isn't totally corrupted by the narco state. Just kids trying to better their lives.
They were harnessed as well, so it was probably a split second decision. If you take off the harness you fall if you haven't gotten down. So they stayed attached and were beaten and crushed by the masts. Scary.
I didn't think about them being harnessed but that makes sense that they would be.
Scary for sure. All around shitty situation.
