Doubles are legal in my state, they're working on triples and my company has me in states where I might end up dragging them around

Doubles are legal down here as well. I just thought it was crazy when I saw triples up in the Dakotas, Wyoming, e.t.c. trucks pulling (53'?) doubles on the turnpike, and tanker tankers pulling an extra tank.

Axel weights vary down here though. For example, North Carolina allows 38,000 on your tandems. Gross is still 80 though. And Florida can go fuck themselves because they follow FMCSA to the letter and they let me know that personally.

The truck I'm typing to you from can gross up to 102k

Yeah my state has a 34k limit for tandems and I've been reminded of that twice in the last 3 months

As in your state allows 102,000 or do y'all get permits?

Yeah, they'll fuck with you on the axel weights. That's why I don't mind hauling through NC. Don't even get me started on liquid tanks.

I pull pneumatic tanks now and the scales are usually nice with me. If my axel weights aren't right, they just tell me to pull behind the scales and adjust, then pull back onto the scales.
