While reading a dozen of commentaries on end times biblical prophecies, I realized that, for some odd reason, the US is apparently absent, at least from the earliest phase of the conflict

Except for the first link, the others below don't "look" serious. However what they are saying, is something that is rather widely accepted, from an eschatological standpoint, it is true that israel is supposed to fend for itself, alone. But how could that happen, even if israel started it? Today there's no credible scenario in which the US would stay on the sideline and just watch without getting involved, that's just unthinkable.
So it led me to the conclusion that, for whatever reason, the US is at least momentarily unable to do anything
