  • photo id to get ballot
  • in person
  • ballot is scanned offline to multiple devices for trusted stakeholders
  • counter increments
  • collection box is locked with multiple locks for trusted stakeholders
  • on poll close all scans go public along with their hashes

If we did this then there would be close to 100% safety. the soft points would be if the scanner was preprogrammed with images, and if poll workers allow people to vote without id or something.

you can not put anything identifiable (to the caster) on the ballots. I think that a photo of the person and a scan of their id might be okay, but it couldn't be tied to the vote. once the ballot is scanned it can't be able to go back to the caster.

If there were to be mail-in-ballots then you would be giving up your anonymity, and this is okay, because those ballots are already not secret ballots (in violation of the letter of the law and spirit of the law).

Mail in ballots must go away. Overseas military and such exceptions should be it. They should be able to confirm their ballot was processed.

They need to be uploaded eventually with public serial numbers for the ballot image and private receipt numbers generated at the scanner confirming how they are recorded. You should just be able to click through batches localized to any precinct voting station. You should be able to report suspicious ballots.

Any adjudicated ballot needs to show the image and how it is recorded on the same screen.
