Lol, I’ve been a desert rat so long I risk hypothermia opening the fridge so you won’t catch me anywhere near the I-40 corridor until July.
We’ve had some good rains in the desert this year so it could be a banner year for flowers. Something that’s been rare for the last thirty some years. Hopefully spring will remain mild so it lasts. The colors against the greening are amazing.
There’s always the concern for wildfires once the summer sun cooks off all that beauty. We’ve had some nasty ones even without much flowering.
So of course leave it up to me to blow a once in a lifetime event. Yeah I fucked up being this high. I could however pop down 191 but I'd end up over in Safford and I don't think there's any flowers there because that's still high elevation.
Well if you got time post some pictures of the super bloom if you've taken any. Be kind of fun to see that. Don't worry about anyone calling you gay for posting flowers, they just have no appreciation for beauty.
South of Safford on Tanque Rd has been known to be good around this time. A fair bit from I-40 though.
This was just two years ago about this time….

Lol, superblooms can happen in one part of the state and not in another depending on the winter snow or rainfall so you might could still get into some. I think over all the state got a pretty decent amount.
Nobody who has ever stood in the desert during a superbloom wouldn’t consider it gay!
I was in eastern California just south of Death Valley from February until the beginning of March and it rained a lot and I could start to see the green coming out of the ground and of course I had to leave. Family duty called. Someone that I follow on Instagram posted a picture from more or less the same area I was in. So I asked her how the flowers were. She said pretty darn lush... Maybe I'm just not meant to see flowers this early spring. Super bummer, the only place I could probably catch them is in eastern New Mexico up towards the panhandle of Oklahoma if I'm lucky, but who knows. I'm headed back east, going along the I-40 corridor so maybe I'll run into some beauty. More than likely I run into a tornado but hey.
I camped out there this past November. I was out in Safford for around a month give or take a day or two. Spent 2 weeks going between Haekel rd and Hot Well dunes, then another week over at the agate picking site north of town. Picked up a gigantic fucking pack rat under my hood there. That little bastard.
Yeah I really dig that part of Arizona. Not sure why but there's just something about it.
