South of Safford on Tanque Rd has been known to be good around this time. A fair bit from I-40 though.
This was just two years ago about this time….

Lol, superblooms can happen in one part of the state and not in another depending on the winter snow or rainfall so you might could still get into some. I think over all the state got a pretty decent amount.
Nobody who has ever stood in the desert during a superbloom wouldn’t consider it gay!
I was in eastern California just south of Death Valley from February until the beginning of March and it rained a lot and I could start to see the green coming out of the ground and of course I had to leave. Family duty called. Someone that I follow on Instagram posted a picture from more or less the same area I was in. So I asked her how the flowers were. She said pretty darn lush... Maybe I'm just not meant to see flowers this early spring. Super bummer, the only place I could probably catch them is in eastern New Mexico up towards the panhandle of Oklahoma if I'm lucky, but who knows. I'm headed back east, going along the I-40 corridor so maybe I'll run into some beauty. More than likely I run into a tornado but hey.
Sounds like you get around a lot boondocking. That was my plan until I got diagnosed with severe onset rheumatoid arthritis last Oct. It has fuk’d me up real good. It has taken away pretty much everything I love to do. I imagine you’ll hit some flowers along the way somewhere. That’s a lot of ground you’ll be covering that got a good bit of water’n this winter. Buddy in Tulsa said things are just start’n to green up, you might hit that up just in time. Same for NM. Don’t count it out just yet! If’n you don’t, oh well. Get’n to see Mother Nature as God presents her to us is always a thing to behold. Even a tornado, from a distance of course!
Yeah I've been living in a camper for a couple of years now. I got to go home to help my father out around his house and do some interior camper rearranging. I also wanted to travel a little bit in the area. It's been forever since I've done any boondocking back east. Of course there's a reason for that but I'd like to give it a go anyway.
Bummer about your arthritis I know two people that have RA and they did injections. I think it helped, I don't know, I've lost contact with them. One of them got struck down with it at the age of 30, that sucks.
My plan is to drive back on the state or county roads once I get past the Rockies in New Mexico. I'm going to see how far I can get before I just becomes too congested. That's the real way to see America.
I camped out there this past November. I was out in Safford for around a month give or take a day or two. Spent 2 weeks going between Haekel rd and Hot Well dunes, then another week over at the agate picking site north of town. Picked up a gigantic fucking pack rat under my hood there. That little bastard.
Yeah I really dig that part of Arizona. Not sure why but there's just something about it.
Gotta watch them fuk’n pack rats. Lil’ fuk’rs will eat your wiring and leave you stranded. Got my fuel pump wires one time. I guess some wires are coated in peanut oil and that attracts them and horkers. Can’t think of any part of AZ that doesn’t have its own bit of charm and beauty in some or another, except for a bit there on I-10 between Phx and Quartzite. Southeast AZ is nice, the borderlands are too. Just a little sketchy because of cartel bullshit. Don’t go alone.
I found that pack rats are attracted to human piss. Over the days I stayed there I got lazy with my watering the plants if you will and instead of walking far away I just walk out about 5 ft out and let it rip. I led it right to my camper. I did have a mousetrap under the hood which clipped it. Of course that wouldn't kill it but knocked it around a little bit so it wasn't spazzing out trying to chew shit. I couldn't dislodge it from the underside. So I had to drive around at 11:30 at night trying to shake the fucker out of my engine compartment. Finally behind a lit building I was able to stab the bastard with a fire poker. I didn't kill it but I probably wounded it enough that it dropped out and limped away.
I wonder if I should buy bear spray and if it happens again just shoot the fucker in the face with bear spray. Do you think that would have an adverse effect on any of the engine components?
