You are very correct, that was a huge game changer that had the fed mercenary/contractors pissing their pants .. that fact has mostly slipped under the radar (or was shoved there) ... I was monitoring Camp Bundy ham radio comms during the standoff. My impression was that the snipers were not team-Bundy and a surprise to both sides, but had Bundy's six and prevented fed escalation as the contractors believed they'd only be up against some ranchers w walmart rifles
Bundy ranch has a man-at-arms. It was basically militia/ex-mil versus current dlnr/feds
re the "feds" at the standoff .. their actions were like contractors as when the risk factor elevated, they packed up ..that's inconsistent with how an actual employee (fbi etc) would respond to orders from their superiors

I didn't even think about recording ..most of the chatter was pretty mundane ... guessing the sniper comms were meant to be heard .. spotter talk ... range, humidity, and shit I never heard of
