I used to think term limits were a good idea. But the more I thought about it the less sense it made.

If my guy is actually doing an awesome job, do I really want to see him forced out and potentially replaced by someone who sucks? No.

Likewise, if you dislike your rep, run against them if you can. Or at the least campaign or donate to their opponent.

Simply complaining and nothing more is how you end up with Untermenschen and women holding office.

We have term limits for the president.

I see both sides and don’t have a solid opinion one way or another, but there is precedent there.

Agreed. No term limits but annual financial audits for elected official and immediate family members.

Yeah I think I agree with this now. I used to be in favor of term limits even in the recent past. Simply because I figured it would be a better way to put people in who might actually have a service mindset - if any of them even exist anymore.

But we can fix that by auditing their finances and aggressively punishing the wrong types of fundraising and then illuminating and prosecuting people who use the position to enrich themselves in ways that hurt our nation. I don’t mind someone making money if people truly want to, say, buy their book or hear their speeches or whatever. But we know what’s really happening. We all do. It’s an issue that should not be subjected to the left/right paradigm. Everyone should be on board with getting rid of dishonest fucks.
