That might work, but if you tell me your father's side is from my country and your mother's side if from Greece and Portugal then you do not qualify.
The person shouldn't even really take about the Greece and Portugal. Just straight identify with the father's line.
That's how most societies that are tribal operate. Medical time most populations when they took brides from friendly, or enemy tribes never called their children as mixed. Pretty sure it was that way with in older times with natives and Europeans, others as well.
My point was rather that if an olive-skinned, brown eyed and black-haired person shows up claiming to be from my country, then I don't believe them and do not consider them as my countryman. They would be considered Spanish or Greek or whatever.
