Politicians can still have the understanding that surrounding yourself with good people will fill in any gaps in their knowledge.
While I agree, I think what's happening today is mostly surrounding themselves with the "swamp." Even Trump was guilty of this. Cronyism instead of a meritocracy.
For example, there were multiple Epidemiologists who disagreed with some of Fauci's recommendations. From Ivy League institutions and medical networks. But no one listened to them because it wasn't more power for the government.
