Around five years ago, the tech industry got this idea that skill didn't matter. Guys like Yuval Harari spread the idea that humans are programmable, and interchangeable with the right influence. I experienced this first hand, at a large tech company that pulled in guys with no experience, and then couldn't understand why they couldn't simply be trained to do the same thing as guys with 10-20 years in the field, one with a PhD. The Ivy leagues where also teaching this "Genie" idea, valuing employees based on their ability to grant the wishes of those of the management class. We ran into this first hand at a company that wanted terrestrial radio commercials programmed with custom messages to the listener, and churned through dozens of people on the idea that anyone who said it wasn't possible should be fired immediately as the "wish" was not granted. This is what happens when the people who run things are not even remotely connected to reality, and it won't end well for these companies.

Now in recent years, I hear its INDIAN CODERS and INDIAN MANAGERS and INDIAN SENIOR MANAGERS and WOMEN indians

Almost all of silicon valley software... all lines of famous famous code... written by "toxic white males"

That "everyone's opinion matters" shit shifts all of the focus on projects to shit that doesn't matter. The parts of the project that people can easily see and understand, like what colors are used.

I miss the kind of teams I was with in the 90s, when the industry still pulled people in that were interested and passionate. Everyone in the office at that time had home projects, wanted to learn more, and they worked together without some kind of bullshit team management framework.

QA and spec meetings had turned into courtroom trials when I left the industry some years ago. You brought in all the company development guidelines, procedures, and standards. Then you defended yourself the best you could, building off of conflicting requirements coming in from all over the company.

Can't imagine what it's like now. When I left, companies still had floors with real engineers, along with "show floors" where they put all the diversity hires. Those were engineers the visitors and other departments saw, the real work was still done downstairs.

It's that way in any big industry.
