Say what you will about pole dancers (this one was a "classy" one), but their strength and control is impressive. I always wonder if a lot of women who end up doing shit like this spent a lot of time in gymnastics to develop the athletic base needed to do this shit.
Idk if there's a camera trick involved, but it looks like there's a fucking near-death drop at about 2:00 into the video, where she's at the top of the pole and then suddenly drops and catches herself just before hitting the floor, face first. Unbelievable, bravo.
It's pretty much advanced calisthenics, and when you realize what the word stands for it makes a lot more sense.
The word calisthenics comes from the ancient Greek words kállos (κάλλος), which means "beauty" and sthenos (σθένος), meaning "strength".
Beautiful strength is precisely how I would describe such a routine.
