Anytime something like that happens, I can't help feel a pang in my chest. I felt the same thing watching ISIS destroy priceless relics. It a great loss for humanity to spend centuries preserving these things, only to have them senselessly destroyed.

Even it was just some freak lighting, had they simply invested in some preventative measures, the loss would not be so great. It really says something about the current state of Brazil that they can't be bothered to protect their own cultural heritage. What they did was negligent.
