The LHC is, on the grand scale of particle energies, extremely underpowered. We can't get close to the energies needed to discover more exotic particles yet because the energies needed to unlock them are much, much higher than humans have been able to achieve. The amount of sunlight energy that hits the total area of CERN's facilities is greater than the energy the whole facility can muster. Also, consider the laws of physics that says you don't get anything for free. To get a 13.6 TeV beam energy requires putting in more than 13.6 TeV into the system in the first place. That energy is generated by conventional energy production means (power plants of various kinds). Are you afraid of the energy from the power plants too? Do they open portals to hell or wherever you think they go? Ignorance is the primer of fear. Why are you addicted to fear?

That shows how little you know about physics and the pursuit to understand it. Your logic implies we should not waste any time, money or resources to expand our abilities. We'd still be sleeping on the ground and gathering berries if our ancestors thought the same way. White men explore the universe and conquer new grounds. Why do you want to denigrate the advances of White men and make us into feral aborigines? Be proud of the White man's accomplishments. We wouldn't be communicating right now if White men didn't put time, money and resources into discovery. You benefit from that spirit of discovery every moment of your pampered life. Evil men will always abuse ingenuity, but that does not negate the worth of that innovation and knowledge. Go sleep on the hard ground and gather berries if you think this is all worthless. And buy some more merch from Trump's store since that is so much more valuable than the spirit of White discovery and conquest.
Not exactly. I had a full college engineering education including physics and math. I embrace the useful physics knowledge we have accumulated.
What I don't understand is the current race to find the "God Particle". Why? For what purpose? How will it help Mankind - or will it help a very few to enslave Mankind? True, these are the things I don't understand. I do understand boondoggles, grift, moneylaundering, Human greed and the insanity of a select few to control every aspect of this world.
