Maybe having a concrete wall next to the runway isn't the greatest idea either.

It's probably to prevent trucks of peace for entering the vicinity.

That perimeter could be pushed back, but I don't think this would be a good target anyways. Much easier to get causalities simply running people over on the sidewalk during lunch time in a big city.

*The international airport by me has a big fence with razor wire on it. That is probably enough to stop trouble, and it won't make airplanes explode if they run into it.

They target Christians (Christmas market) on purpose. It's a demonstration of humiliation and dominance. The same way they are blocking entire city blocks to pray in the streets and parks.
