Proper gin is fermented juniper berries and botanicals.
Ingredients in my preferred gin:
Juniper berries, Coriander Seeds, Liquorice Root, Almonds, Lemon Peel, Cassia Bark, Orris Root, Angelica Root, Cubeb Berries, Grains of Paradise.
Yes you definitely have to like juniper berries to drink it. Must like it alot.
I like the complexity of it. It’s like the wine of liquors, imo, so much going on in each sip. That and brandy/cognac, but for different reasons. But for sure, it has to be quality; rail-level gin isn’t complex, it’s just rough
Brandy is my thing like a totty or just brandy. Whiskey, bourbon, also my thing and can drink gin just prefer not to.
