The thing that stumps me regarding the "pine cones" is that they literally look exactly like pine cones. Right down the the patterns of the scales.

So much information we have about the Sumerians can be twisted and reworded to fit the narrative of whoever happens to be studying the topic... Take the "bags" the "god" is holding in the OPS picture. There seems to be a lot of debate on what they actually are.

But i just cant see that symbol being ANYTHING else. The closest thing i have ever seen since casually learning about Sumerians is the bloody dragon eggs from game of thrones.

Here's a fairly recent documentary i found today. Has some pretty detailed shots of the "pine cones".

Imagine how fantastically bizarre life was back at that time in history. I'm sure most of what went on then was not recorded in any way. What was in the sky that was different from today? What did the people look like? Must have been beautiful but brutal at the same time.

I'm not much of a history buff, but i absolutely love reading about Mesopotamia for that exact reason.

Such an interesting time period. Certainly more advanced than most people realise.

Crazy that it get overlooked in schools in favor of ancient Greece and Egypt. I was 30 before i had even heard about the Sumerians...
