In normal circumstances I'd agree, however the purpose of the trip was to stimulate trade with Russia which at that point was barely recovering economically from the fall of the USSR.

I wasn't there nor do I know the full details but if that's his philosophy in life than it would extend to how he treats his subjects. Using them for only personal gain...

Makes sense why still to this date their GDP is only on par with Mexico.
