I don't think I've ever had homemade cranberry jam with any sort of meat. Growing up I've only ever really seen the glob of garbage that comes out of a can.
Saw the rutabaga there by the turnips and thought about it for a second. I'll give that a go next time I decide to make some mash. Thanks for the tip. I used to eat turnips whole when I was a kid but I can't say I've ever had rutabaga prepared in any way.
it's a sweeter flesh - they can take some time to prepare and I like mine a little lumpy which works well for ruta's - i will typically add ruta with potato for my mash so it's neither too starchy nor too sweet.
