We had better destroy those TSMC fabs ... or TSMC needs to move all of their equipment and base of operations to the west. I don't think there is time to accomplish that.

We have plans against the wishes of Taiwan to blow them all. But I am willing to bet they have shit stashed. Only a fool woukd leave their future in the hands of this country.

For the neocons, Taiwan is just a tool like the Ukraine. Lindsay Graham: "They'll fight to the last man against China". We know how that worked for the Ukrainians.

For Taiwan, the traditional solution worked best: They do their own thing economically and China does the foreign policy for both.

The moment the TSMC factories in the US go online, the neocons will destroy the factories in Taiwan. They want the US to become the sole center of chip technology again. But they underestimate China, China has all the young scientists and engineers needed to make their own factories in no time.

China has all the young scientists and engineers needed to make their own factories in no time.

in no time.

Why has China been unable to produce good small geometry silicon chips to date? The best they have done is to produce large geometry chips equivalent to about 30 years behind leading edge tech today. They have had many excellent engineers graduate from the USA and other parts of the world over the past 3 decades, yet they can't seem to replicate the technology.

There is a tremendous challenge to brining up a small geometry fab. Multiple years are required to bring up a new state of the art fab even if you have the technology and experts to create it.

The tools for Chip production are created by specialized companies because every single part is extremely expensive. For example, even the US uses photolithography machines from ASML. China is forced to copy these machines now because of the sanctions and it's just a matter of time until their machines are even better than the original. Maybe 5 years, but maybe just 2 years.

Long time ago they have sent their best to universities in the US. But now, only the ones who cannot get a place at the Chinese universities come to the US.
