My comment was mainly to keep the facts straight. I'm still considering the situation.
Your idea may well work, but I would add that when the new voting feature is implemented (Soon™), let the users decide who gets to mod these.
that's a massive cluster fuck waiting to happen.
I don't know, I have faith in rational people coming to an equitable solution. If I didn't, I wouldn't be here, there, or any commented site. My internet exists solely for my entertainment or I don't use it. I've been around long before it and can get along fine without anymore than it being a tool for information I seek out.
people in groups are not know for acting rationally. they should work within the rule set just fine, but everything else is fair game. there's plenty of idiots on any board who will jump on a bandwagon even to there own detriment. the lesson to me is don't supply extra bandwagons. mobs will flock to them.
i'm a little cynical right now, so take it with a grain of salt.
