Bail can now be set with safety considerations in mind, and citizenship is required for voting.

Both issues passed with an overwhelming 77% of the vote.

common sense stuff.

I liked how the side against the bail issue stated that judges already consider public safety. Well if that is the case than what harm does this issue cause? Didn't make sense.

I find it kind of sad that we need rules like this in the first place. But it's good to have it codified into the state's base law.

Even Tim Ryan, trying to act like he isn't a liberal idiot, supported them.

It's sad how common sense cultural norms have to be codified as our culture is changed. It just gums up the works with beaurucratic nonsense of things that should be normal expectations. Now that what should be obvious is written down, it allows for loopholes to be found and exploited.

I think that while the bail issue is good intentioned, it's completely wishy washy and useless.

'The court must consider public safety,...'

With no concrete commands, what stops a judge from saying 'having considered public safety and all other factors, I am releasing this career murder-rapist on no bail'?

You're absolutely right.

To me it's even worse than useless and lays a groundwork to redefine what public safety means.

That's it? I think 77% is alarmingly low.

The big cities in Ohio are alarmingly leftist, so that probably skewed the results.
