The problem is they also want them cheap, and crApple’s shareholders and those who follow their design choices aren’t gonna give up their comfortable margins.
I see, but the most expensive components of a mobile phone are the internal parts (GPU, CPU, Display).
The Galaxy S5 was not much more expensive than other flagship phones released at a similar time, despite having a rubber band isolation in conjunction to replaceable battery.

In 2014, the iPhone 6+ was the first phone to cross the €1000 barrier in Germany. I doubt it did even cost €300 to build.
The Galaxy S3 (2012) costed €600 on release date and dropped to €400 within weeks after release.
