There was a study that came out about this same time last summer that indicated that no, the extra money wasn't causing any grief in people returning to work. The reddit-esque shills came out of the woodwork to defend that study.
It's amazing what 365 days will do for you.
People not working didn't make car rental companies sell their fleets. It was panic. They were afraid of "we're all gonna die" and they didn't want to be caught holding the financial bag, so they bailed out. It's a bit like a panic sell-off in stocks, but in production. The governments and media that pushed the doom and gloom are responsible more than anything else.
