I may be wrong, but I read it as: you finance a 1500 dollar (or whatever) phone and don't pay, then they lock your device.

OP is a faggot. People shouldn't spend beyond their means.

It's the same as your car getting repoed or booted if you don't pay. I'm the only person I know who doesn't have a single credit card.

But the joos made it where no credit equals bad credit. Unbelievable.

Just root the phone and install a custom ROM, but this app is designed to allow jews to finance phones for niggers so that's obviously not something they're worried about.

Just root the phone

Oh, so you know how to bypass the root protection of the ROM they are using? You can't "Just root the phone" if there is no one way to do so: that has to be figured out. And the people on XDADevs have a wishlist of phones that they don't know how to root, and then there are the ones that they aren't even interested in because they are so uncommon and often outdated, much like these Android Go ultra-budget low-end phones that don't have enough free RAM to use the most common automated tools.

and install a custom ROM

What custom ROM? Because they'd have to make a ROM that has drivers for all the various chipsets for all the various components.

Maybe you should lurk XDADevs for a few years before you make comments like this.

Soon, every device will have this "feature": Cars, phones, apartments, homes, televisions, refrigerators, smart speakers, bicycles, etc.

The idea here is to control everything and everyone.

You'll own nothing and be happy. Also i would think this entire concept is ripe for abuse. Dont like that new tax levy being forced down your throat? Well fuck you, pay up or get locked out

That's the entire point. It's also one of the reasons tech isn't really advancing much these days. They're all trying to make sure that it can control/spy on you instead of making it useful. In fact, usefulness is a waste in their eyes.

I'd like to see them try!

I don't run IOS nor Android!

Btw, Google has full access to download, upload, lock, reset, install or uninstall anything on your device. So does apple.

One of the reasons I only acquire Android devices that have known pathways for removing Google accounts from the Accounts and Administrators lists. Just use a burner Google account to set up the phone and if they lock it hack your phone back to a clean state. Though, I also use TWRP.

Which model devices do you recommend which has good xda support?

Hate to say, but lurk the XDA forums. Or find a model you like and search the forums. One of the ways to bypass the Google locks was exploiting the accessibility options during setup, but I haven't owned an Android device past version 8, so I don't know about the new versions. My favorite was the one where you had to use a Bluetooth headset to speak commands to in order to get into the YouTube app options which had a link to the online help in it, and clicking on that would open a Chrome browser which you could use to get access to the Home screen in order to access the device settings.

Just find a phone you like - the major brands usually have good support - and go from there. If there is a method of removing the accounts from the phone during setup and a TWRP recovery image ROM for it you can unlock the phone even if Google locks it remotely. Is there an ? I know http://www.ruqqus.com/+DeGoogle exists. I remove or disable pretty much every stock app but I keep Google Play/Play Services just in case. Which means I need to have a linked Google account for that. But I take the extra step to disable Google Assistant, which requires you to go into the account's settings online through the Assistant app (well, you can do it in a browser, but it's easier to navigate and find it through the app).

Welp. I know what the next ransomware targets will be.

If I was a 'bad guy', I'd be targeting the lender's network access to this 'feature'. This is going to be fun to watch. :)

No reason for this app. so it must be recording and copying everything and sending to china

So, according to Google, the app was developed by them in partnership with a Kenyan carrier, Safaricom. A spokesperson from Google told XDA that the app was developed to help Safaricom with their new “Lipa Mdogo Mdogo” (Pay Bit by Bit) financing plan which lets customers get an Android Go device with monthly financing.
