Humor aside, human beings simply aren't capable of multi-tasking... It's a fucking myth. I'm not big on supporting laws that restrict individual agency while driving, but given that I live in the society I do; cell phone drivers are an active threat against everyone in their proximity.
I was hit by teenaged cell phone driver as she blew through a stop sign and permanently injured me, but apparently that text just couldn't wait.
Logged in to post just this. At one time I was a high level athlete (top 10 nationally, just missed 2 Olympics), and this was something I learned early on. Brain can switch between 2 things rapidly, but you can only focus on 1 thing at a time. Young eyes may be able to shift focus between near and far (phone and outside world when driving) too... but it only takes a split second.
I'm a motorcyclist too, put your fucking phone down (not you indoctrinated, the rest of these niggers). You are NOT that good of a driver. The truly good drivers (roadracers, autoX, etc...) know they're not good enough at driving to use a phone while behind the wheel. The rest of you are dumb enough that you don't have a clue how incompetent you really are.
Cops are allowed to use a laptop while driving. Therefore it is safe

I drive for a living. You all think you are "good drivers" while using your phone. You aren't. It's the rest of us recognizing you're distracted and adjusting our driving around that.
You can't maintain speed, maintain your lane, and you are completely unaware of your surroundings.
The amount of times I get passed by four wheelers daily only for them to start fucking with their phone and drop their speed by 10-20 mph is infuriating.
If you mess with devices while driving, you are a shit driver. Period. Get off your phone for your bullshit 30 minute commute. Is that going to kill you? I drive 11 hours a day without touching my phone.
