Most families want an economic car that had has enough space and can get them safely everywhere they need to go. An ICE car beats EVs hands down. To be competitive, either gas prices have to go up a lot while electric prices stays the same (unlikely), or the cost of EVs have to be the same or even lower than ICEs.
