The point is that it's not as simple as manuvering at super sonic. Of course if you are faster than the enemy you get away.

But the incoming missiles are also, get this... missiles. They also have the benefit of being short range and offboarding the radar and telemetry to ground stations. There is a huge homefield advantage.

it is a matter of time

there is no time to actually track the incoming target

read again what I wrote, all of the following steps take time

  • retrieving the current target position
  • deciding where it will be in xx nanoseconds
  • adjust the path (mechanic adjust) so to intercept

if the incoming is fast enough, there is no time to do the tracking loop
