Whatever. Don't buy an HP printer. Starve the virus.

I made the mistake only once about 15 years ago, Brother printers for me ever since.

WHY THE FUCK does a printer need a protocol to the printer cartridge so involved that it could be hacked? Or does HP not trust their pajeet programmers to do a simple i2C EEPROM protocol correctly?

For some reason, printer companies are those most desperate example of corporate "leaders" trying act like retarded jewish niggers.

If a printer cartridge can infect a computer, then the system is designet to infect a computer with a printer cartridge. Long ago, HP startet with the micro dots that can identify the printer a document comes from.

I think the microdots and refusal to print exactly the shade of money green are a gubment requirement. But HP still sucks. The 90s memory of them being the gold standard is just that - a memory that's gone forever.

Epson EcoTank printers rock. A) they go an amazingly long time on a tank fill, and B) they have no objections to third-party ink (really can't).

Abandon HP

There is a use case for HP printers for the typical family. The upfront cost is about the same as Brother printers. But they have a plan for about $6 a month where they send ink cartridges to you shortly before you need it, and get about 100 pages of printing a month. For most families, that works well, pay $70 a year plus paper, and not have to worry about ink cartridges. It's low hassle. What doesn't work is buying HP ink cartridges on your own. They are overpriced and autofail after a few months.

I do agree with the ink programs, especially for low page count where the ink will dry out from only printing a little each month or when you print lots of full-page color stuff and don't want to worry. But if you print a lot of just documents, the cartridges won't dry out since you use them quickly.

lol. what fucks.

All that Palm tech and they can't block their DRM solution from uploading to the printer?

Oh scary, I have to spend more money and waste to ensure the poor printer doesn't die a horrible death, like the dumpster.
