OnePlus is a a Chinese company so I assume they share data with the CCP, but what about Plurism?

Sailfish also something I looked into once

A friend of mine has a rooted Google phone with Sailfish installed. I guess that's an option. Thanks for the reminder

People say Purism is a really crappy company:

I've never had one so I'm just going off of what other people say.

Great information. Thanks for that. I only found them because I was looking for an American phone.

Honestly your best indicator will be if the companies tied into the CCP (it is). Chinese created or modified hardware is a yuge problem. In the early 2000s they bought up a ton of linksys routers, modified em, then sold em as new on ebay. They wound up in enough IT depts across multiple companies to really steal some massive amounts of IP etc. It went undetected b/c they left the software alone and used a hardware modified solution on the actual board.

my son ran the one plus for a couple iterations, he didn't care much for it.

Because of the OS or the Chinese ownership factor?

He just wasn't impressed by the whole experience. He said it was just Meh.

I own a OnePlus 11. Excellent phone. Just as powerful as any flagship model out there. Bootloader is unlockable and degoogled roms exist. Also there are many GSIs that can be temp booted.

Where do you think most of the chips for any phone are manufactured? Plurism is a shit company.

Generalized statements not targeted at you specifically:

ALL smart phones are equiped to steal your data at the hardware level. Does not matter who you buy from or what brand it is. People either deal with it or do what can be done to try and mitigate it. People that complain about privacy and data while running a stock OS on their phones are naive to say the least.
