I'm starting to believe that alongside having a minimum age for politicians / voters, we need to have a maximum age too. We have WAY too many fuckers making decisions when they won't be around to feel the consequences of it.
Most of these old fucks in office can barely send an e-mail. They have no actual idea how this new technological world functions, (((they))) just know how to use it for control.
But then you're taking the freedom from the voter to vote for who they want. Think about it... Trump will be over 80 in 2024, but I'd like the option to vote for him.
The problem is that so long as they have a thin veneer of legitimacy in their finances they're allowed to take bribes and do insider trading. Take this away and none of them would bother.
Another belief I'm starting to have is that the amount of privacy one should have should be inversely proportional to their distance to the legislative branch. You are a senator? Then better be able to tell the public where every single red cent in your bank account came from, which should be publicly visible.
Probably a lot of unintended consequences from both of my above suppositions though. I've not thought about them long.
