My kid is getting annoying with asking for a cell phone. She's 12. All the other kids do, in fact, have a cell phone. If we went any particular route, it would be a flip phone or something at best, but I am familiar with modding, so that is an option (say, to get a solid phone and then mod to lock-down/remove bloat).

Curious what others out there have done.

Edit: TMobile, would rather not get any "new" or phones on a loan/prepurchase. IMHO, she's not getting one at least until she's 13...

Oh I am not for it all at, don't get me wrong. I am curious about those who have allowed it why and did they at least attempt to lock it down some. It would only be some sort of texting, no internet apps but it would have data.

thank you for the links - I knew screens to be a terrible thing and it is good to be reminded.
