The ability to make you forget the analysis of the story, and the ability to just enjoy the story. By all accounts, Independence Day was a dog shit movie, on paper. But when you watch it, plot holes and everything else go by the way side and your swept into an engaging story. Same with Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc
Passing the information in a way so that event those who are not knowledge on the topic can comprehend it.
I have written many manuals related to my work, but I'm not that good when it comes to literature and poetry, especially gay poetry.
I blame the jews.

When light turns green, pull black lever.
If light turns red, find gypsy that stole machine parts and shoot until light turns green again.
I wanted to add more detailed instructions, but TOS.
Accuracy of intent.
Every word has meaning - use the proper word for what is intended to be conveyed and ensure it is spelled properly.
Whether it is a story, a poem, or merely a comment on a forum post, the elements that disrupt the written words that I am reading the most are misspellings and improper word usage; e.g. "your" instead of "you're". (example elsewhere on this post)
To me, misspellings and/or improper word usage are topmost in being the most disruptive to written words as they will degrade the importance of a meaningful comment and disrupt a reader from an engaging story.
As misspellings and improper word usage distract from what is being read and disrupt immersion, an 8 story will seem to be lowered to a 5 or 6 if it contains these elements. Such disruptions will prevent immersion into the story or envisioning what is being read, lessening enjoyment of it.
The same is true for a garbage story or a weak comment. A 2 story can seem to be more akin to a 3 or 4 if all of the text is spelled properly and with proper word usage, which will keep the reader engaged in what is being read even if it is garbage.
I liken proper spelling and word usage to not only be a sign of the writer's confidence and pride in what they have written, but to also be a display of the level of respect the writer has for the reader of their words.
If I wanted to be mean I'd say something like... 'ai when it comes to you'. However, I don't want to be mean, so my advice is to sprinkle in a 'nigger' precisely every 6 paragraps.
If it be done by white peple...
You faggot. Provide a real answer.
The same thing that makes all entertainment good: conplete focus on the enjoyment of your user. The complete opposite are writers who want to puff themselves up and write shit articles trying to be relatable or project themselves as something they are not, but want to be seen as. For example, a title for some article caught your attention and the first lines are something like "Crisp air begins warming as the sun rises over the mountains. I sit down at my table with a fresh cup of coffee to blah blah blah blah (insert words he looked up from a dictionary to try and sound smart)". Then proceeds to spend the rest of the article projecting how he wants you to see him as some brilliant writer, but the entire time he is just compensating for the fact that he wanted to be a famous writer, and is bitter that he doesn't have a best selling book. NOBODY FUCKING CARES. As a writer, you are the medium through which the words flow. If your only focus is on the enjoyment of the reader, that is what you will receive, that is what you will write and that is what the reader gets.
Sundry technical, stylistic, and creative things but it all boils down to understanding your reader.
It's immersive and compelling. I found the best sci fi makes you lose track of time back in the 80's when I read it I would read for 8 hrs then look at the clock and fuck it's 1AM. Alarm was 4:30am so that was a problem for being on time.
