If you do want it to expand, why do you want that, and how would you go about getting new users?

If you do not want the Poal community to expand, why, and how would you keep the userbase at a sustainable level?

Yes I want the Poal community to expand, but there are very few potential new users who are made of the right stuff to be here and be good for the community. Most new accounts are clearly here to fuck shit up and the initiation process weeds them out quickly. No real loss because they were never going to fit in, but we just don't get good new users.

I don't see a way to fix this. Many of us have already recommended people we trust who can handle Poal and they've already joined when the initiation was less rigorous. Vouching for someone new helps, but I think we've exhausted our pool of candidates from our friends and family lists. Basically we're left with random chance a good user will come along and pass the smell test.

I don't have any real answers here, but I don't think anyone else on Poal does either. I'd like to be wrong on that, but it's a sad truth. We're more likely to shrink than grow and that's very unfortunate. I'd like to be proven wrong though.

Many of the people I know have too thin of a skin to handle it here. I think it is pathetic.

They are still friends but they only ever get to know so much. It is sad how weak people have become.

Are you sure about that?

I often wonder how many people share similar views, but choose to hide them and go along with the crowd.

I also wonder if NPC Theory could be correct, and most people are incapable of thought that is substantially different from the crowd they are in.

What do you think?

[–] 3 pts

Oh I know. I drop little hints or "spicy" stuff from time to time and sometimes they get all butt hurt about it. I laugh at them and say "Can't you take a joke?". It's sad.

The NPC thing is real. I have (and do) work with many of them. It is shocking how little someone can think on a daily basis and still be somewhat functional.

Thanks for the response Morbo, but I would like to question you further on a couple of points you made:

but there are very few potential new users who are made of the right stuff to be here and be good for the community.

What is the right stuff they should be made out of?

Most new accounts are clearly here to fuck shit up and the initiation process weeds them out quickly. No real loss because they were never going to fit in, but we just don't get good new users.

I would agree that some new accounts are here to fuck shit up, but honestly, the initiation process weeds out way too many people, by demanding they agree with certain ideas.

The initiation process is something I specifically dealt with around ~1.5 years ago, when I was travelling, and, for whatever reason, Poal demanded my password after I had fucked up the Captcha several times.

Poal is weirdly brutal when it comes to new user hazing (other than demanding they write a poem), and kind of demands you agree with people before you join the club. It honestly seems like we inherited a weird ritual from Voat, which was useful for that website, but probably isn't as useful for this website, given its declining user-ship.

Any thoughts on my thoughts?

I've come to view Poal as almost like a friars club or small bar that turns off most people cause it stinks and the tables are dirty. People who want to be here will come here. People who don't, won't. The bigger issue is if a bunch of microbrew drinking hipsters show up and try to turn it into a local pub. Poal doesn't need to be fixed, no matter what people outside might think.

But what do I know, I'm just a frog.

Your account is older than either of my accounts by over a year. I still want to hear about the early history of Poal, because I only ever saw this place after Putt kicked me off Voat, and I never properly asked about why he made this website, and (God Bless Him) gives me evasive answers, like only a Slav living in Asia could.

My biggest concern is that the bouncer at the door is turning away people who wouldn't otherwise care about the dirty tables.

Perhaps my concerns are retarded, tho.

Early Poal was a very different place. Poal more than anything turned into a counter culture/ refuge from the end stages of Voat. And even there, we could go into what Voat WAS as opposed to what Voat became. The sub I made when I got here, Moshi, was an offshoot of the community and humor that was Voat prior to politics become so invasive. Poal has kind of suffered from a similar fate, in as much as most articles here now are related to politics or jew hating on some form. If I remember right, it was part of the motivation of why Justin shuttered Voat. He loathed what the user base has become.

The issue with new user recruitment is that there isn't a happy medium to discussion any more. You either wind up going reddit or blue sky or you wind up in the opposite end as a chan or...well...Poal. I have no idea how to go about fixing that issue.

Boobs was a great man. You'd have really liked him. Another dude from that era was named Owlchemy. You'd have really liked him too

Why did Poal splinter from Voat/Phuks?

I knew both those guys, Boobs better than Owlchemy, but I miss them both dearly.

I assumed you were one of the originals using an alt account

No, unfortunately I only came here after kicked me off Voat.

I'd like to see it grow, but not so much that it becomes a free for all. Having been here for a while, I have seen the site whittle down the user community to a fairly hardcore few. I think 's comment about hipsters is spot on. How do we add users without inviting people who don't fit in? I did invite a few friends but they didn't stick around. Poal is not for everybody, and I don't think it needs to be.

I've curated my feed so that I see most of what goes on here, but definitely not everything. Once in a while I will check the front page from a different browser while not logged in, just to see what's what. I don't have any users blocked, but I have quite a few subs blocked. (Q-tards can fuck off!) I am guilty of posting a narrow range of content and have tried to expand, but I keep forgetting.

Here's a question: , do you want to see it expand? I know you said you'd eventually retire from running the show. Is growing the site a priority for you?

[–] 3 pts

I want to see it growing organically.

My priority is to keep the lights on, as long as will be able to.

That makes sense to me.

And we really do appreciate how hard you work to do so.

This is why I simultaneously think you are one of the smartest and most retarded people on Poal.

You are a really unique voice here, one I value very much, especially given the fact I feel like you are one of five Poal users who has spent a decent amount of time in a major American city.

But do you think you would join Poal today, had you just found it? Do you think other users like you would join?

God Bless Poal, and the weird Southern/Midwestern/Slavic demographic we currently have, but I worry that it will become an echo chamber, and never attract humans with unique opinions, from another sphere of life.

Diversity now, Bigot!

I prefer 'autist' to 'retard' thankyouverymuch. :-)

I've lived in NYC, Detroit, and LA. NYC more than the others, but I have spent quite a bit of time in cities. I'm glad to hear my contributions are appreciated.

But do you think you would join Poal today, had you just found it? Do you think other users like you would join?

I think I would. The sticking point is whether I would be looking for a site like Poal today. I left reddit during the Fat People Hate ban even though I didn't post much there, and only on niche subs anyway. I heard about Voat and migrated there. I moved here when it started. I think it was who told me, but that was so long ago I'm not sure. I also tried Phuks, but never really clicked with them. At this point in my life I don't know whether I'd go looking for a new 'home' after Poal ends.

Most of my family is from either the UK or Sicily. Not sure where I fit in to that mix.

As I just mentioned, I have Sicilian roots. That means I am part...

I'm glad you wrote this up. This was my migration too. Reddit > voat > phuks > poal.

The catalyst isn't there anymore. Now there are mainstream sites like X and Rumble which is where people are more likely to land than looking for a place like poal.

Shout out to Owlchemy who told me about poal.

See? Who else could appreciate me calling you a fucking moolie?

Define "expand".

On Reddit then Voat we got new users who came to disagree with us from a website or to check out some type of drama that the site owners/admins/skw’s were causing.

We kept it roughly 50/50, their drama and jew/red pill content. They’d argue and seeds would be planted and while we didn’t flip everyone we planted seeds, “purple pilled” some and woke up others.

Being one of the first 5 subs banned from Reddit was harsh and we never fully recovered with the move to Voat and once moving here our sub died and everyone scattered.

[–] 1 pt

I'm not opposed to it expanding. The issue with social media is that spaces like these were created because the radicalists banned our ideas from propagating in their spaces where they would have eventually flourished as they inevitably do.

You can't hide from the truth. Leftism/communism is completely opposite of what makes the White man happy and successful which is why the jew embraces it.

The initial hazing period is a bit harsh, but with so many glowies and people looking for NSFW content it feels like it's necessary.

[–] 1 pt

you mean like gain weight and get fatter yet?

[–] 1 pt

Yes and no. I'd love some more people to chat with but when you let in a bunch of fags it ruins the vibe. I've half jokingly advocated for giving users a tool beyond upvotes and downvotes. The digital bullet. In reality it's just a dv rebranded but we could aim them specifically at intros and tweak the results. Like x amount of user spent bullets equals a failed introduction. Like dv's but only for intros. I also think a popup before their first introduction post telling them not to be a lazy one sentence faggot would help too lol.

No. Yes. Imagine getting a ton of Polish users. Poland is based right? Yeah, should be alright, but basically all of them have an opinion on vodka, and a lot of discussions devolve into that. New rules, that did not exist before, are made to deal with this, but it already feels like a different place.

If Poal gradually adds more users, they get the meet and greet and we all become friends, I'd still want a hard cap. The idea of "Come join millions of users today!" is shit.

[–] 1 pt

Growth yes, but only valid growth. Not like "growth" that one gets from steroids, but the real growth from eating properly and working out properly. Nothing fast, just growth that will last.

Getting the new users is a challenge. IRL when I talk to people, I use little feeler statements/questions to see where their thinking is at, and almost all of them are too brainwashed/still just accepting whatever MSM/social media tells them to believe without ever questioning it. The very few that could make the cut just want quiet lives and dont care to hear arguments/discussions, and would rather just go to work, come home and spend time with their families. I can't fault them for that.
