They used the engine in trains and in marine applications. They fascinate me with their mechanics. I think the design is brilliant and, in its day, it was a very efficient engine. In modern times, it could probably made even more efficient. They even had giant superchargers attached to them, just so they could cram even more air into the combustion chambers.
