It would have sucked if it had fucked up my back wheel and all. I was able to repair it right where it was in a parking lot of Sears. I actually broke three allen wrenches while I was trying to get the chain cover off, lucky for me they were craftsman. Those bolts was rusted on tight!
I don't think I've gotta worry about my bike breaking for a long, long time. People put a couple hundred thousand miles on 'em, just by maintaining them properly. They're not even all that gentle, they take them off road on adventures - that's the whole point of many of their bikes. People do shit like take them up into the arctic circle and drive them through deserts.
Yeah, yours should be good to go for as long you want it to be.
It had over 400 miles when I last looked. When I go 'around the block' that can be as many as 100 miles, depending on my route.
