Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

LoL I don't know how steep the mountain road is, but man if the brakes were to fail that would be a wild ride

It's pretty steep and fairly long. You're mostly going downhill for like 10 miles. It's uphill out of the village and downhill back into it. Even though the village is mountainous, the "Height of the Land" is higher than it is - by quite a wide margin.

You could have probably got that thing to go faster than the 45 mph top speed if you chose on the way down

Oh, it did - but not by much. I was counting the top speed based on how it went on the more flat section around the lake. On the hill, I'd probably hit 55 or so before braking heavily. This is how you keep your brakes as cool as possible. In these types of situations, heat is the enemy of braking ability. So, I'd slow, toss it in 2nd, let the RPM build up to where the engine howled, feed it third, let the RPM build up until the engine howled, and then I'd brake heavily to put it back in 2nd and start it all over again.

Fortunately, it's also a pretty light vehicle. So, it doesn't take much to slow it down. There's enough compression that I was able to get back to the village without much of an issue. I'd not want to take Rt. 4 to Farmington with it. That's just too steep. I'd have to crawl down it in like 1st and 2nd, meaning it'd take a long time - and be hell on the engine.

That's the most steep way to get here, it's also the most regularly used route to get to Rangeley. They did some major construction on it, but that only got rid of some really twisty and steep sections for about a mile. It helped, but the road is still steep and twisty.
