I think they may not make the 150 anymore. But, they're still out there. I think the 172 is better with longer range.
There's a bunch of little airports around. You'll have to stop for fuel at some point - plus you've gotta get home. You should have the wind at your back on the way here. You're gonna be fighting the wind the flight back. But, you'll be flying much lower than the jet stream, so it's not like you've got 100 mph winds to contend with.
Yeah, you'd have to fuel up - but then you could land in Rangeley - assuming you can actually find it. I suspect a regular old GPS unit would help. I only pilot the plane when there are visual references, unless it's a bigger plane where all I gotta do is point and there's a real pilot there anyhow.
You can fuel up in Rangeley and only have to stop once on the way back, probably... That'd depend a bit on the headwind, but you should be fine.
I don't have a pilot license though
At the end of the day, that's probably going to be the least of your concerns.
The stolen plane and your lack of knowledge regarding how to respond to ATC (or even what channels to be on) are going to be your biggest hurdles/bundles of trouble after the fact.
Oh they got the book under the seat telling you what channels to be on in what area, and I have talked to air traffic control here and did take offs and touch and go's and landings and flew around over the area here a couple dozen times LoL
