LOL If I'm drunk I'll lose my lighter. Even though I don't smoke, I still carry three lighters as a habit. I'll still misplace all three - except they're like in my various pockets. If I wear a jacket with lots of pockets, I'll be unable to find a lighter - even though I'll have three of them on me.
A previous girlfriend (we were out a lot, like out of the house often and visiting people or whatnot) would know what to do when I put my arms up or 'assumed the position' against the wall. She'd come pat me down and find my lighter for me.
LoL assume the position
LOL That's what we called it back in the day. I had to search the detainees a number of times, every time I'd sign one out for transport. I'd tell 'em to assume the position and they'd do so. I'd then step in, putting my feet between them while holding them against the wall by the back of their collar.
The reason for the feet thing was that's how we were trained. If they started to not comply, you just slide one of your feet out and it knocks them off that foot, taking them off balance, where you can easily put them into a restraint position. I never had any test it. I never had any detainee cause me any real trouble. I had some that bitched and pissed and moaned, but I'd explain to them that it was not my job to determine guilt or punishment. My job was just to move them from one place to another.
