So long as you're not in a cell block with a bunch of loud people that keep you awake at night.
It has been so long since I bought a new guitar that I ordered a cheap-ish guitar. I cheated and ordered it now, but it's on a slow boat from China, so I had it shipped to the hotel in VA. It won't be there until like December 10th, so I'll already be there.
This one is a true Chibson. I guess it's a complete forgery, with the headstock having the right logo and all that. I want to see what the quality is like, though I did go the wrong direction. I'm supposed to be going cheaper to see what kind of cheap guitars you can get, but I actually went the other direction.
I paid $275 for this one:
$275 is cheap for a Les Paul. You are not getting one of those unless you spend 10 times that amount.
I will be interested to hear how the quality of the build is and the quality of the components, especially the pick ups and the tuners
An SG isn't TOO expensive. You can get a Gibson one for about a grand, but not one decked out like this one. You can get an Epiphone version for like $600ish - maybe $400 if you don't mind gently used. They're very playable guitars. I just want to see how close this one comes to being a Gibson.
As near as I can tell, it's supposed to be about 90% of the quality you'd expect from Gibson. I'll possibly have to adjust the truss rod and do some fret leveling and edge work. I'll possibly have to adjust the nut and the intonation. The saddles may also need some light sanding.

The SG is pretty affordable, for a Gibson.
After that, it should be 99% of a Gibson. Some of those things I won't have to do, hopefully. It should come in a playable state, so all that work might be done properly already - but I should be prepared to do the work just in case.
I saw one on there for $30, and i clicked on it and it was a brochure LoL
I did some digging. The Chibson copies a 2007-2008 Heritage Edition that has been customized with the white pick guard.
To get a used one will cost about $2200. Similarly apportioned SG examples will go as high as $9000.
This, however, is a Chibson. It's a complete forgery. So, even if it's 90% of the real thing, it will never be worth any money. In fact, once I open the package and accept the delivery, it'll will be worth less than I paid for it - but probably not have nearly as much depreciation as the real thing! LOL
If I were to sell it, assuming I didn't try to dupe the buyer, I'd maybe recoup $200 from my purchase price. So, it's not even worth reselling.
Yeah. I know its not worth much reselling unless you try to fool the buyer, but if you get it to play and it plays great and sounds great you got yourself a hell of a deal!
