wouldnt you think a hole would let the whole thing get hotter? then the hammering it might break it loose before drilling and drilling again

If the hole was large enough, yes. A small 1/8" hole ain't gonna let much heat into it, nor add that much surface area.

its just corroded in there to damned tight, it doesnt want to come out

Well, no... I'd have someone else do it for me. I don't know if we'd have gone cutting the nut off or anything like that - but I wasn't there, so I don't know.
