Wait, no... The XFL game is 19:00 my time...
In this case, I think I'd have routed 'em on a whole other road, maybe making use of a primary and local detour setup. Primary traffic, that moving through, would be on an entirely different route. The locals would just use this route as their detour - and would be far more familiar with the route.
The road they routed traffic to maybe had 100 cars per day on it. Now they've got at least 10x that amount.
But, they didn't ask me and I am retired from the industry.
That fifty mile detour I was made to take by following the signs, on the way back I took a back road and it was a five mile detour that way
I once came across a detour out of Buffalo, NY. It was in the direction I wanted to go, so I went that way. I was headed to Pennsylvania, ideally without hitting a major highway, more or less for fun and to test my sense of direction. (Drugs and alcohol were a factor.)
So, I followed this detour... And I followed this detour... And, eventually, it just stopped. There were no more detour signs. It never said the detour was over, it just stopped. For the life of me, I have no idea what I was making a detour around. I never found anything closed to traffic. I never found the end of the detour. It just vanished...
I was drunk and high on opiates, but I'm 100% positive that I didn't miss it. I wasn't that fucked up at the time.
Maybe some juvenile delinquents were having some fun and taking detour signs down!
