Looks like pReddit is going to start requiring some sort of ID to see parts of the site. (archive.is)

A large portion of people on Reddit are privacy conscious. If they force some sketchy ID verification on everyone many of them will immediately flee to Reddit alternatives.

Putting words into user's mouths, which means making them appear like they wrote something they never actually did, especially on sensitive posts, is one of the greatest violations of user trust possible.
