Apple isn't bad, really. I mean, they even have two buttons on their mice now. Macs were also inherently more secure than Windows machines at the time. I no longer keep up, so I have zero idea if that's still true. Shit, in 2005, Windows was barely at the stage of understanding multi-user operating systems.
And there was an Opera for your Mac at the time.
When I retired, I just said fuck the Microsoft ecosystem and switched to Linux. I had no further need for them. I don't dislike them and I appreciate the impact they had on the computer industry (the good aspects). But, I'm happier using Linux. It just fucking works. Security rests with me. Privacy is up to me to decide and enforce. I like that control and, well, simplicity. As an old UNIX user, Linux is a natural fit.
Apple then, not bad. Apple now, fucking cancer. Good apple died with Steve Jobs and I didn't even like that guy that much.
I miss my first gen iPad. It is now mostly useless for the modern web and I just haven't replaced the charging cable. That thing was a slab of mystery material, considering the abuse it took. Poal was unwilling to work with it, but damned if it hadn't served me well for years.
I'm actually probably going to buy a new one. Technically, I bought myself a nice new one. I never got it out of the package. My daughter saw it on the counter and said, "Oh, I want one of those!" She kept it. She knows I don't mind.
What a damn shame.
You know I've noticed your increase in activity with other certain groups. I'm not going to accuse you of being part of those groups but I can't help but notice you coming back at roughly the same time. I really hate that I have to notice this. I don't want to be paranoid but it is kind of part of the job. I enjoy our talks tremendously but you left for quite a while and then came back at the same time as those groups. Please tell me that is a coincidence.
