Look at the different bottle's labeling next time you go buy some. It doesn't even fucking say "detergent." If it does, it's in the tiniest fucking font they can find.

No. That is laundry soap. Laundry detergent is a detergent. Soaps and detergents are not the same thing.

True. Detergents are synthetic.

Yes. We make a liquid from zote, borax, and washing powder. We use it in a HE washer. Twice a month I run a cycle using dawn detergent to breakdown residue left by the “soap”.

I live in Europe in an area with quite a bit of hard water.

I use straight borax with a bottle of vinegar, temperature setting 90°. This cleans machine also.

Dish washer tabs work too.
